Research Interests & Projects

The increase of complexity is one of the greatest challenges in the high-tech age in general, and especially in computer science. Highly complex dynamics of non-linear networks must be considered for all developments in organizational and sociological contexts. Thus, system theory and related fields such as concepts of chaos, self-organisation, and constructivism are used to develop new strategies to manage projects launching information and communication technology (ICT projects).

Ecological Management of ICT Projects

Since the social environment of ICT projects plays an crucial role in the development process, this research project develops the theoretical and methodological backgrounds in order to deal in a systemic way with the difference between an ICT project and its environment. Based on new concepts in systems theory, we are developing methods like ecological analysis of ICT project stakeholders and of potential problems. The goal is to enhance the Lead of complex ICT projects with appropriate interventional methods.

Management of Innovative ICT Projects Teams

ICT Project Teams are the most important resource in the development of ICT projects. These teams form the future of an enterprise. The innovative nature of this task often requires structures, processes and cultures in the project that form a difference to the rest of the enterprise. This project addresses these issues and develops methods for establishing, constituting, leading and disolving these teams.
