How to get to the Irchel
Campus of the University of Zurich
By train
Plan your train ride to Zurich using
the online timetable
of the Swiss Federal Railways.
Leave the train station towards the city and walk to the
tram station Bahnhofplatz (see a map here). Buy a
ticket at the vending machines installed at the station (the
tram drivers do not sell tickets!). Then
- Take tram 10 (heading for Bahnhof
Oerlikon or Seebach) to Irchel.
Walk about 6 minutes to the symposium site,
- Or take tram 14 (heading for
Seebach) to Milchbuck
Walk about 10 minutes through the Irchel park to the
symposium site.
In total you will need about 30
minutes from the arrival of your train until you arrive at
the symposium site.

By car
If you come from
- Basel/Bern/Geneva
(West) Follow the autobahn
A1. At "Limmattaler Kreuz" follow the A1 (direction
Zürich Nordring, St.Gallen), passing through the
Gubrist tunnel. After about 12 kilometers the autobahn
splits. Follow the signs towards downtown Zürich
City and then to City, Milchbuck. At the end of a short
tunnel you reach an exit Tierspital, Universität
Irchel. Don't exit, but continue for about 200 m, and you
will find the direct entrance to the university's
underground multi-storey car park (Irchel, exit to the
left!)
- Konstanz/Schaffhausen/St.Gallen/Winterthur
(North) Follow the autobahn
A1. After "Brüttiseller Kreuz" follow the signs
towards downtown as if coming from the West.
- Gotthard/Chur
(South) Follow the autobahn
to its end, then follow signs Winterthur, Transit until
you see signs for Tierspital, Universität Irchel.
Then follow the signs to the university's underground
multi-storey car park (Irchel).
From the University's car park take
the elevator to the top floor (outdoors) and walk to the
Symposium site.
Please note that
parking is not free.
By plane
Zurich's international airport is
situated just 11 km from the city center and is connected to
the Swiss railway network. There are two to four trains per
hour from the airport to Zurich main station. Alternatively,
a taxi from the airport to the Irchel campus will cost about
40 Swiss Francs.
