Attandees will require an F Visa to enter the People's Republic of China. See here for more details about Chinese visas. The detailed precedure should be inquired from the respective Chinese embassy in the attandee's country.
As the application of a Chinese visa will take up to several weeks of time, we suggest our attendees registrate early and follow the procedure published by the Chinese embassy in your country. We would also like to remind you of the following issues.
- Original passport should have more than 6 months left before it expires from the date of application and sufficient blank visa pages.
- A Letter of invitation from a company or institution in China (The letter of invitation can not be email, and should include full name and passport number of the invitee as well as the purpose and duration of the visit)
Invitation Letter
For visa application, you may need an invitation letter. We normally send out the invitation letter by air mail if you check "need invitation letter" in the registration form. Air mailing is included in your registration fee. We also provide upon request other types of delivery of invitation letters, including express, fax and email. Extra fee will be charged on site if you choose express delivery.
Please note that your visa application must be accompanied by an original invitation letter from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (email, Fax or PDF attachments will not be sufficient). You will be sent such a letter if you tick the relevant box on the registration form. If the letter has not arrived within 10 work days, or if you have other visa problems, please contact our support immediately.
Visas for Accompanying Persons
We recommend our participants apply for Tourist Visas (L Visas) for your accompanying persons. You may want to consult your local Chinese embassy about the process of application. If you need an invitation letter for your accompanying person from us, please contact ISWC 2010 with mail title "Request Invitation Letters for Accompanying Persons".
