ISWC 2002 will take
place in Chia, which
is 40km east of Cagliari (on the detailed map of South
Sardinia, look for Chia, in the south-west) situated on the south
coast of Sardinia. At the
extreme south of Sardinia island, in the middle of a big natural park,
there is Chia. Here the landscape is characterized by white beaches of
fine sand that are lapped by waters of emerald green.

The conference will take place at the Gran hotel Chia
Laguna.
The hotel offers every modern facility needed for a
top class conference including spacious air conditioned lecture rooms,
up to date audio/visual technology and office facilities for
delegates.
The very recently created hotel is the expression of a synthesis of
avant-garde architecture which aims to keep the environment and living
space unspoiled and maintain a high level of comfort.
The beach is fully equipped with deck-chairs and parasols and many
other facilities are available for the guests.
This venue is perfectly
situated in a beautiful natural
setting, surrounded by a natural park and only a short walk from the
pure sea waters of Sardinia. The leisure facilities are of the highest
standard including swimming pools, tennis courts and water sports
which are ideal for relaxation during the conference.

How to get there
|
Sardina is an italian island in the Mediteranea (the island between
Sicilia and Corsica). It can be reached either:
- By aircraft
- Cagliari Elmas airport (CAG) can be reached from many Italian
and European airports.
- By boat
- The three main seaports of Sardinia are: Cagliari, Portotorres (north-west), Olbia (nort-east). If you decide to bring a car with you, you
will be able to sightsee our Island.

Cagliari is connected to: Genova, Livorno and Civitavecchia (Rome).
- Portotorres is connected to: Toulon (France), Genova, and Livorno. The journey Portotorres-Cagliari by car takes about 2h30.
- Olbia is connected to: Genova, Livorno and Civitavecchia. The
journey Olbia-Cagliari by car takes about 3h30.
From Cagliari, one can get to Chia laguna:
- By the conference shuttle

Trip lasts approx 1 hour
- By car
- from Cagliari drive on the route 195 for about 50 km. At 43 km take the road for Chia.
- By taxi
- This is an expensive choice unless you make groups of 3-4 people.
- By public bus service
- The journey Elmas Airport to Cagliari takes 15 minutes. and runs every 40 min.
The journey Cagliari-Chia takes 1h15 (frequency: 45 minutes). The Bus
Station is in Piazza Matteotti (just where the Airport shuttle
arrives). Schedule for this bus can be found here.
