Student Grants
Student Grants
We are pleased to announce that the Semantic Web Science Association (SWSA) makes available a certain number of grants to support the participation of full-time students at ISWC 2014. Additionally, the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is also sponsoring students from U.S. universities attending the conference. The amount of the grants will depend on the number of qualified applicants.
Our goal is to encourage students who want to become part of the Semantic Web research community, and we hope that attending ISWC 2014 will be a significant event in their careers. In selecting applications for travel support, preference will be given to students selected to participate in the doctoral consortium, followed by students who are first author on a paper accepted at the conference, followed by students who have other authorship on a conference or related workshop paper.
In order to apply, please fill and submit the Student Grant Application form . You should also ask your advisor to send a recommendation letter to iswctravelawards@gmail.com in which he or she states support for your application, affirms your status as a full-time student, and indicates the maximum extent to which he or she will provide funds for your trip. Both the application and the recommendation letter must be received by August 10th, 2014.
Finally, after submitting the application, even if you are uncertain about your attendance, please register for the conference by submitting this web form . This will help organizers in planning for the conference. Note that if your attendance is contingent upon receiving an award, you are still asked to register your details using the registration form. Please, be aware that NSF founds are restricted to the use of US air carriers, so NSF selected students should not book their travel without consultation. Moreover, in order to avoid any problem, we advise students that need a VISA to apply for it as soon as possible.
In addition to the grants provided by the SWSA and NSF we encourage students to explore other funding opportunities. As a reference, we provide some pointers below to travel awards from different countries and organisations. If you are awarded a travel grant by an external organisation as well as by SWSA or NSF, you need to notify us as soon as possible (iswctravelawards@gmail.com) so that we can adapt or relocate your funding accordingly. Note that SWSA and NSF are not responsible, or have any relation, with these listed funding programs. This list will be continuously updated as we detect more opportunities.
