How do I get from the airport/ main railway station to the University of Zurich Irchel?

At the airport you can catch the tram #10 (not S-Bahn) towards downtown Zurich Hauptbahnhof and disembark in about 22 minutes at the station Universität Irchel.

From the main railway station, you can catch the tram #10 (not S-Bahn) towards Zurich Flughafen and disembark in about 13 minutes at the station Universität Irchel

Is there a parking lot at the conference venue?

There is limited parking space available. It is recommended to travel by public transportation.

 

How much does a taxi ride cost?

Taxi/ cab fares consist of a base tax of CHF 6.00, and every kilometer costs CHF 3.80. 

University of Zurich Irchel is about 10 km from the airport, the railway station is 4 km away from the University of Zurich Irchel. Cabs in Zurich belong to the most expensive worldwide, but its public transportation system is very stable, safe and on time.

 

Is there a cafeteria?

There is a cafeteria and a canteen.

 

 

What about food during the conference?

There will be coffee breaks during after the morning and afternoon sessions. On 16th and 17th February, there will be standing buffet lunches.

Is registration possible after the published registration time?

Yes, it will be possible. The registration desk will be occupied during the whole conference.

 

Can I pay with Euros in Switzerland?

In big shops you may pay with euro bills (no coins). Swiss Francs can exchanged at the train stations, the airport or dispensed from the ATMs. At the University Irchel there is an ATM available.

 

Can plugs from broad be used without problems in Switzerland?

Two-pole AC power plugs from Europe fit in all Swiss power sockets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europlug
For three-pole AC power plugs (grounded) an adaptor is required. Neither British nor American AC plugs are compatible and require adaptors. Be aware that Swiss power sockets and cables are designed for voltages up to 250 V and currents up to 2.5 A.
